A&T PROFESSOR ORGANIZER FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT
Dr. Muktha Jost

Dr. Muktha Jost, an associate professor of curriculum and instruction (instructional technology) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is the local organizer for a community outreach project based on a new documentary film "Where Do the Children Play?" The project is co-sponsored by the Fund for Democratic Communities and the Greensboro Montessori School, and supported by the Washington D.C. based Alliance for Childhood. Jost is a board member of the Fund for Democratic Communities.

Technology literacy, responsible use of technology, and assistive technologies are areas of research for Jost, and the seductiveness of electronic games and entertainment as a barrier to open-ended creative play in children is an issue addressed in the documentary. "Where Do the Children Play?" is part of a national campaign to raise public consciousness about the importance of play, and is organized by Elizabeth Goodenough, University of Michigan. For more information visit www.michigantelevision.org/childrenplay.

The kickoff for the outreach project will be on Saturday, June 28 at 6 p.m. when the film will be shown at a free public screening at The HIVE, 1214 Grove St.
