A&T Appoints Kelly Chair of
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
Greensboro, N.C. - Dr. John Carey Kelly Jr., has been appointed chair of
the department of electrical and computer
engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Kelly
has served as interim chair for three years.
Kelly joined the University in the fall of 1992
as the associate dean for graduate and research programs where his primary
responsibility was the establishment of the first doctoral programs at N.C. A&T.
In 1997, he was tenured and has been a
member of the faculty in both the computer science and the electrical and
computer engineering departments. Kelly’s
research interests include computer networks, computer architecture and
engineering architecture. He has just completed
his three year term as chairman of the board of trustees of Universities Space
Research Association, a university research consortium.
Kelly earned his Ph.D. and B.S. in electrical
engineering in 1988 and 1981, respectively, from the University of Delaware.
Kelly worked for AT&T Bell Laboratories in Allentown, Pa., for five years as a
telecommunications integrated circuit designer.
