GREENSBORO -
Dr. Mel Levy, a chemistry and physics research professor at North
Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, has been invited
to Girona, Spain to participate in a conference on “Molecular Similarity
in Density-Functional Theory” July 21-25.
His lecture is titled “Foundations of Density-Functional Theory.” Levy
joined A&T’s faculty last August. He came to the University from
Tulane University where he had been employed for 25 years. Before Tulane,
Levy served for two years on the UNC-Chapel Hill faculty.
While at N.C. A&T, Levy has been collaborating with Dr. Stanislav
Ivanov at Analytic Solutions Corporation in Chicago, with Professor Payl
Ayers at McMaster University in Canada and with several scientist in
the research triangle. An electronic ground-state manuscript, coauthored
with Ivanov, was recently accepted in The Journal of Chemical Physics
and a manuscript on “excited states” is now being prepared with Ayers.
