New Parking Payment System Offered at N.C. A&T

Parking and Transportation Services at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University recently launched Parkmobile, a new service that gives users the option of on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for on and off-street parking and mobility-related services.

With Parkmobile, students, faculty and visitors can enjoy the convenience of paying for parking by phone throughout campus. Once registered, users can navigate the system by downloading the mobile app (for iPhone, Android or Windows phones), via Parkmobile.com or – for those without a smartphone – by calling a toll-free number listed on green meter stickers and signs to pay for parking.

“Parking is a major concern for our entire university community,” said Fabian Lewis, the university’s director of Parking and Transportation Services. “Introducing Parkmobile allows Parking & Transportation Services to provide an enhanced parking experience with a variety of convenient options, while integrating the use of technology.”

The new service allows users to choose from various options, including receiving alerts and reminders every 15 minutes prior to their parking session expiring, extend time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as print and keep parking receipts. Additionally, enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices, relieving motorists’ anxiety when the meter does not change.

Parkmobile is available in more than 2,000 locations and is the most widely used mobile parking solution in the country with more than 5 million people using its services over 30 million times a year. Additional services for the system include parking deck payments, airport and event reservations and municipal parking permit solutions.

Parkmobile operates as a complementary parking payment solution. N.C. A&T will continue to utilize traditional payment options.
