Welcome Week 2016with Darren Brand, Tim Shropshire, Briana Babineax, Travis Greene and Terrence Jenkins

Welcome Week 2016

Whether it’s their first semester or year of graduation, college students are finalizing plans and making arrangements for the 2016-17 academic school year. North Carolina A&T State University is prepared to welcome some of those students into its largest freshman class in school history.

Those new and returning students will be privy to the N.C. A&T Welcome Week Experience. The university will host a week-long series of events and activities beginning Aug. 13 - 20 to jump start the new academic year. Throughout the week students will have the opportunity to engage with their peers, university faculty and staff, attend seminars relevant to their classification, discover, learn and navigate the A&T system, and of course relax, have fun and attend one of the many entertainment activities held throughout the week; across campus.

Although there are many events and activities occurring each day specifically tailored to new students (freshmen and transfer), graduate students, transfer students, the full campus community and even the general public, the featured events occur Aug. 14-16 as follows:

  • Sunday, Aug. 14, 5 p.m., Corbett Sports Center – An inspirational service featuring gospel recording artists Travis Greene and Brianna “Bri” Babineax, hosted by Tim Shropshire, alumnus and Christian Comedian.
  • Monday, Aug. 15, 7 p.m., Corbett Sports Center – A “Welcome Back Comedy Show” featuring A&T alumnus and cast member of MTV2’s Wild’n Out, Darren Brand, hosted by Gerard Rankin, alumnus, comedian and 102 JAMZ personality
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16, 10 a.m., Academic Classroom Building – New Student Institute (not open to general public)
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16, 3 p.m., Corbett Sports Center – New Student Convocation featuring a keynote address by Terrence Jenkins, A&T Alumnus, television and film actor, philanthropist and author (not open to general public)
