Money and Essence Magazine Ranks N.C. A&T in Top 10 Best Colleges for African Americans

North Carolina A&T State University has been ranked No. 9 in the first-ever list of “50 Best Colleges for African American Students” by the editors of MONEY and Essence Magazine.

The list places N.C. A&T among Ivy League schools, large public institutions and historically black colleges and universities.

Rankings are based on data collected for MONEY’s annual “Best Colleges for Your Money” feature and the MONEY College Planner website for black students. The editors analyzed more than 1,500 four-year colleges to select institutions based on four key factors: African American graduation rates, affordability, graduates’ earnings potential and campus diversity. Included in the formulation of the list were the expressions of both students and faculty who spoke about their lived experiences at the institutions.

The list was devised to help parents and students make more informed and strategic decisions regarding their higher education choices and selections.
