TOP COLLEGE FOR FUTURE SERVICE MEMBERS
North Carolina A&T State University is ranked in the top five schools for future service members in the state of North Carolina. As a top affordable college with a low in-state tuition cost of $2,791 and with civic-centered opportunities in two ROTC programs, ROTC Army and ROTC Air Force, North Carolina A&T placed No. 5 in the list of top tier schools.
For over 65 years the ROTC programs at N.C. A&T have developed student leaders who serve as lieutenants and general officers in various sectors of the United States military.
“It shows you the contributions we offer to the public, the (students) that we get here that contribute to the community and service and what they’re taking away from our diverse background,” said detachment commander, Air Force Lt. Col. Kenneth R. McDonald.
N.C. A&T ROTC programs include students from several schools and colleges in the area. Both Army and Air Force ROTC hold partnerships with Elon University, Bennett College, Greensboro College, Guilford College, High Point University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Air Force ROTC detachment 605 is also comprised of several colleges and universities including Forsyth Tech, Guilford Technical Community College, Randolph Community College, Salem College, Wake Forest University and Winston Salem State University.
“It serves as a testament of the support we receive from the community and from the university,” said professor of military science, Army Lt. Col. Donald L. Prioleau. “We thank the university and community for allowing us to be here because it is a privilege to be on campus.”
The Online College Database listed 14 North Carolina colleges and universities with in-state tuition costs below $20,000 per year and at least two of the three ROTC programs for Army, Navy and Air Force.
