N.C. A&T STUDENT LEADERS AWARDED AT REGIONAL CONFERENCE

After a weekend-long conference on the campus of UNC-Charlotte, orientation student leaders from North Carolina A&T State University walked away with more than team building and networking.  Student leaders from N.C. A&T also brought home two awards from the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (SROW).

N.C. A&T students brought home first place in the region-wide service project category and third place in the skit portion of the song, skit and dance competition. SROW is a regional conference for orientation leaders and professionals, sponsored by the National Orientation Directors Association.  The region includes Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

As their service project, the students assisted in Operation Homefront’s mission to provide emergency assistance to active military families and wounded warriors. A&T proved the organization with more than 6,000 new school supplies including backpacks, crayons, markers, color pencils and scissors.

For the skit, the students performed, “The Book of the T,” an adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss story, “The Cat in the Hat.”  The skit displayed the excitement, rich legacy, numerous academic programs, organizations, and activities that our university has to offer.
