REGISTER NOW FOR GIRL SCOUT STEM WORKSHOP ON APRIL 21

If you know any Girl Scouts who just want to have fun, register them for the Girl Scout Day STEM Workshop on Saturday April 21 at N.C. A&T. The event is put on by the N.C. A&T Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

“Every year the student members of the SWE chapter come up with new and exciting ideas to inspire and motivate young minds,” said Dr. Cindy Waters, Mechanical Engineering faculty member.  She is the SWE Advisor and K-12 outreach director for the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center at N.C. A&T.

The hands-on event will begin with registration at 8:45 a.m. and end at 2:15 p.m.  The cost is $10 per Scout.  It will be held in McNair Hall on the campus. Lunch will be provided. Preregistration ends on April 14.  For more information and a registration form, click here.  For more information, contact Dr. Waters.

Last year's event drew 74 Junior Girl Scouts and Cadets (grades 4-8) from the Tarheel Triad Council. The Scouts rotated through four different activities: bottle rocket launchers (aerospace engineering), pipe cleaning (biomedical engineering), puff mobiles (mechanical engineering), and water change (environmental engineering).

The workshop is sponsored by Toyota.
