How Will You Make a Difference in the World?

How will you make a difference?

Don't just read about history. Make it.

Comments:   I have always had a passion for the homeless. I volunteer time at Urban Ministry. I also have a deep concern about children having every opportunity to learn to read at an early age. I have seen too many students who were in high school and could not read. How does that happen? Teachers are not always at fault. They can’t do it all. Mostly the parents are at fault. Some children are not in one school long enough to learn anything. I feel that students at NC A & T could volunteer their time at schools that struggle the most with academics. The Education Department could develop a required internship for education majors to tutor the children at Pathway’s homeless shelter. Never forget what you are blessed to have. Don’t wait until you graduate to give back to your community. Little did the four young men from NC A & T know that their courageous actions to form a sit-in at Woolworth's would become a blessing for us 50 years later.

Comments:   Making a difference in the world would be to show an outlook on many stereotypes deep rooted in every community of every nation. I will find a common denominator between all cultures and show that we are all much alike. Living and learning with other nations and about their truths. Also, show my people that success comes in groups. And if we work together and show each other respect and kindness, we can all make it in this society of infinite possibilities. Showing more camaraderie than competition.

Comments:   I hope that before I enter the workforce to do research mapping tectonic plate movement to better predict weather patterns in coastal regions to help predict and warn against inclement weather. I'm sure all are familiar with the horrific tsunami that tore apart southern Asia, and Hurricane Katrina and it's devastating encounter with New Orleans. I think research like this would be invaluable to inhabitants of areas like this. With technology that give forewarning of inclement weather conditions, people and respecting governments could better prepare and avoid disaster from such phenomena.

Comments:   I will make a diference in the world by graduating with honors, using the knowledge from A&T to be a leader for young kids, be a positive role model, and show that you can get a degree no matter what trials and tribulations that you go through. The world will be changed by me through the knowledge and a strong voice that I am obtaining everday from actively taking pride in what I learn by sticking with the Aggie mentality. Making a difference to me also means leaving no one behind that I come into contact with, because I like to see everyone I meet share the same successes that I have. I want to also be PAID so I can give to charities, and have my own foundations. These are just a few things I want to do to make a differnce in the world.

Comments:   I will make a difference by standing up for what is right, when everybody else seems to be sitting down. I will make a difference by being a man of character, and integrity, never compromising those two for anyone. I will make a difference by being the leader and the example. I will make a difference by being there for those who need me. I will make a difference by being who I am, not conforming to what people want me to be. I will make a difference!

Comments:   I have made a difference by feeding the homeless and offering support to my community in any way that I can. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and we all have to look out for each other.

Comments:   Aggie Nurses-Worldwide-Aggie Pride! As an “Aggie Nurse” I developed insight in to nursing education and a strong passion for mentoring minority nursing students. In 2000 I graduated as a traditional student from NC A & T State University Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s of science degree from the School of Nursing. In 2006 I completed my master’s degree in nursing and I returned not just to an institution of higher learning but I returned home, as faculty in the School of Nursing. NC A & T State University instilled in me a global perspective in healthcare and a desire to make change in our vulnerable communities. This University has provided me with the golden opportunity to expand my spirit of mentorship into an international model of mentoring minority nursing students from a holistic perspective. My husband, Ernest H. Dick, Jr., RN, BSN, intensive care nurse, is also a graduate of the School of Nursing and plans to attend graduate school in the near future. We give total credit to NC A & T State University, the School of Nursing, and the outstanding faculty in this department. With this said, “Aggie Nurses are Worldwide with Immeasurable Aggie Pride!” – Mrs. Lorrie R. Davis-Dick, RN, MSN, BC and Mr. Ernest H. Dick, Jr., RN, BSN.

Comments:   The difference I hope to make in the world is one of assisting parents whether they are male or female in obtaining the child support that is due their child/children. I am a 53 years old female employed and attending school. My ending goal with my degree is to first get employed in the Child Enforcement Unit and then eventually to run it. I am very adamant about child support because I was a single parent raising a male child on my own and it was very difficult and some of the choices I made. A person should not take second best but when you are a single parent and have to make sure that you have food and a roof over your child's head you will sometimes do a lot of things you will not normally do. That is why I want to be an advocate for the children to receive the funds that are due them so that their parent who is raising them will not have to take second best.

Comments:   A great mentor has urged me to make a positive difference in every interaction I have with people. In summation; everytime you come into contact with someone, make sure that they go away enhanced from the meeting. That is my global philosophy as it pertains to "How will I make a difference in the World?"

Comments:   I will make a difference in the world by learning from my past and doing what it takes to make the difference. I will also take and learn from our current surroundings, including economically, financially and religiously, to make the needed difference. I will apply all available knowledge that i have learned, both past and present, to make a difference. Lastly i will change and make a difference in myself first so that i may be the difference that the world needs.

Comments:   It is my hope to improve relations through enhanced communications. This I hope to accomplish by publishing a teen magazine for girls and boys different from what is available today.

Comments:   Students in Biological Engineering Program receive training in natural resource conservation and renewable energy technologies. Thus, students gain knowledge and experience to help the world to become sustainable. We also conduct bioenergy research which contributes toward achieving the same goal.

Comments:   I hope to change the world using my knowledge and skill to encourage others to strive for their best and encourage their fellow peers to do better and improve life for the next generation and those less fortunate then themselves.

Comments:   I plan to make a difference by becoming a new addition to the health services field. My goal is to become a nurse. A nurse is someone who is needed all over at all times. The world is in desparate need of good, caring people to carry on fellowship and work with one another through this hard economic crisis. Nurses are people that patients can consult and confide in. I want to establish a bond between my future patients and I, so that that they can feel free to ask me anything that they desire. With my education at Aggieland, I will take my skills and the beneficial factors in which I have gained and display a charactisic that is beyond no other ambitious attitude.
