Dennis Stuart Hayle's passing is particularly painful to
hear and live through. Random acts of violence like this reminds
us of
how
important
it is to care for each other, be aware of signs of distress
in those which we encounter and serve, and to be vigilant
in watching for signs of danger.
There is a rush to prevent every possible tragedy following
a traumatic incident. We need to remember that even with the
most comprehensive prevention system in place, tragedies will
still occur.
On our campus here at North Carolina A&T
State University, Counseling Services provides counseling,
psycho-educational
programs and activities for our students like:
- Personal Growth Programs - which focus on healthy relationships,
stress, violence, and academics
- Open House - where students
learn about our services and ways to cope with
distress, changes, and friendships
- Daily drop-in services - with an
Intake Counselor assigned each day to meet the needs and
answer questions from our students, staff, and
faculty
- Faculty Guides - to assist with distressed students
- Individual/Group
therapy
- Classroom presentations - to all students, including
non-traditional
- Media announcements - through broadband
and fliers about our services, locations, and hours
