Mr. Sean Vinson Murphy departed this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Funeral services for Mr. Murphy were held on Friday, January 31, 2004, at Bell-Yeager Free Will Baptist Church in Durham. Sean Vinson Murphy, the son of Shirley Chalmers Murphy and Jimmie Lee Murphy, was born July 3, 1977, in Durham, North Carolina. Sean attended the Durham Public Schools and was an avid lover of sports. He played basketball at Holt Association, Bethesda School, Carrington Middle School on the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and at Northern High School, where he received numerous awards. Upon graduating from Northern High School in 1996, he attended Winston-Salem State University. At the time of his passing, he was a rising junior at A&T State University in the Electrical Engineering discipline. At an early age, he was a member of New Metropolitan Faith Winners Baptist Church, Inc. Later, he became a member of Praise and Deliverance Church, where he participated with the Praise Team as saxophonist, caleb's Army I Men's Choir, and the Drama Guild.
