plan their budgets.
Venture Funds are
grants awarded through the University. The source of funding is from
state-allocated resources, and as such, these funds are governed
by the same policies and procedures as state funds.
While students
and alumni may be investigators for Ventures Grants, they must partner
with University faculty or staff as their co-investigator, and the
University faculty or staff must serve as the budget administrator
for the grant.
Venture Fund grants
will be awarded by Chancellor Renick in April and funded
on July 1, 2006. The actual grant period starts July
1 and ends on May 30, i.e., if
your proposal is funded, your funds will not be available
until July 1, 2006. The grant recipient should submit
a B-1 Form to Ms. Tracey Smith, Associate Director
for Budget and Planning, by
May 19, 2006. The
grant recipient will receive
an approved budget and account number by June 1 for a
budget that goes into effect on July 1. Further, the
grant recipient
should request on-line access for the account. Account
access to the financial records system (FRS) is provided
by the Systems Accounting Group at 334-7563.
