Research Interests

Over the past several years, my research interests have focused on social capital and cultural responsive leadership. I view social capital, the connections among individuals and between social networks and cultural responsive pedagogies as central to school leaders’ understanding of school communities and raising student achievement. Within this framework, I have examined how school communities sustained positive social capital, how they organized themselves, and how school leaders facilitated a common purpose and shared values among school community members.
