The Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies is a university-based program
that provides professional development opportunities for mid-career, black
journalists 
and practical news gathering experiences for black journalism students.
The Institute supports the training, recruitment and retention of black journalists, who continue to be underrepresented in the nation's media, through programs that sharpen their research, news reporting and writing skills. Check out some of the Institute's upcoming events and announcements!
Institute Announces Vernon Jarrett Award Winners for Print and Broadcast Journalism
Golf Tournament
Join USA Today columnist and institute director DeWayne Wickham
for the Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies Golf Tournament on Friday,
July 28, at the
Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
The cost of the 8 am shotgun start tournament is $150, which includes a continental breakfast, greens fees, range balls, cart fees and lunch. The awards luncheon will be hosted by a surprise celebrity.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies and the campus’ National Association of Black Journalists’ student chapter.
