As an educator who has an opportunity to influence the college choice of many high school students, I often speak of the excellent one one can obtain at A&T. Since my nieces and nephew followed in my footsteps and also became Aggies, I like to think I help influence their decision. They often heard my brother and I speak of the dedicated professors who provided tutelage, but cared about our well-being and the life-long friendships we developed. Comments: I come because I am closer since retiring from the USAF. I love and appreciate the spirit of an HBCU at homecoming, and particular that of NCA&T. I love seeing old friends and fraternity brothers, but most importantly I love to see how progressive A&T has become and the many contributions it has made to our society and to our country as a whole. I am very proud to have earned my undergraduate degree from A&T and pleased to be a financial contributor. I only wish I could do more. It is my vision to establish a graduate chapter in Montgomery, AL and recruit students for A&T. I have visited many HBCU campuses but none compare with A&T. Comments: I learned the true depth of "AGGIE PRIDE" after I graduated in 2001 and moved from Greensboro, NC to Champaign, IL to attend graduate school at the University of Illinois. This campus of almost 40,000 was alot different from my experience at A&T, an HBCU with less students. I traveled by plane to a new city in which I knew noone. However, one of my professors at A&T had given me the name of another Aggie that was in graduate school here in IL (Natasha Scott '97) so we could hook up when I arrived. After traveling over 700 miles from home, the first face that greeted me when I arrived at the graduate dorm was that of an AGGIE!!!! I remember being in a culture shock when I arrived on the campus, then seeing the face of an AGGIE and knowing that everything would be alright. I later found out that there were close to 20 other AGGIES living in this area. This connection has provided me with a surrogate family while I'm away from home. AGGIE PRIDE truly is nation-wide!!! I haven't been able to make it back for Homecoming, but you can bet that once I finish Graduate School, I won't miss a beat with Homecoming.
