COE Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series

College of Engineering to Host VP of Global Denim Innovation Center at VF Corporation


The College of Engineering will host Dr. Sudhakar Puvvada, Vice President of Global Denim Innovation Center at VF Corporation in Greensboro, NC.

In his discussion on “Integration and Innovation,” Puvvada will describe the innovation process, its relation to academic research and discoveries, and explain how to integrate this model into teaching and evaluation. He will further discuss scenarios from his personal experience on how science and technology can become more innovative. The speaker series will be held on Tuesday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m. in McNair Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Sudhakar Puvvada, is Vice President of Global Denim Innovation Center at VF Corporation in Greensboro, NC. He holds a doctorate in Surface Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has published over 20 articles. Puvvada is passionate about innovation and delighting consumers with new products and technologies.

He holds more than 20 patents and is leading innovation in the chemical industry and consumer packaged goods (GPG) globally. He has helped launch over 100 new products for brands such as Dove, Lever 2000, Wisk, Caress, etc. These companies were innovative in their vision and focused on improving what they did best.
