Closing Bell Speaker Series
After a one-month break, the School of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University will restart its monthly Closing Bell Speaker Series at 4 p.m., Jan. 17 in Merrick Hall Auditorium.
Carla A. Harris, managing director at Morgan Stanley, will be the keynote speaker for this event. Her topic is “Personal Finance Management – An essential Building Block in Transitioning from the College Dorm Room to the C-Suite.”
“These sessions are designed to go beyond the classroom to give you all types of critical advantages,” Dean Queister Craig said during the November event.
Harris heads the Emerging Manager Platform at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. In that position, she and her team seek to identify and provide capital as well as strategic advice and infrastructure solutions to emerging asset managers, with a specific emphasis on minority and women-owned asset managers.
The Closing Bell Speaker Series is designed to bring successful, scholarly professions to campus to engage with students in topical discussions that reflect the changing global environment. The primary objectives are to provide insight on current business trends, to inspire students and provide additional encouragement for personal and career development and to enrich the students’ lives by providing them with role models.
Last semester’s speakers included N.C. A&T Board of Trustees member Karen J. Collins, Jim Captain of Credit-Suisse and Dr. Ancella Livers of the Center for Creative Leadership. Speakers scheduled for this semester include Kevin Gray of GFS Investments, Eric Watson of Delhaize America and Michael Robinson of Microsoft.
These events are free and open to the public.
