1. What is the process for obtaining a phone?

Each user will be required to:

  • Complete a Cellular Telephone Request Form
  • Prepare a Letter of Justification on Department letterhead
  • Choose a Wireless Device
  • Choose Optional Equipment (i.e. car charger, ear piece, etc.)
  • Submit the approved documents to the Administrative Telecommunications Service Department (ATSD).

2.      What plans are available and where they can be found?

There are local plans that range from $25.49 to $169.99 per month. There are also national plans that range from $33.99 to $169.99 per month. These plans can be found on the service options and estimated encumbrance's spreadsheet.

3.      Does my plan include text messaging?

No the plan does not include text messaging but the prices for text messaging are on the service options and estimated encumbrance spreadsheet.

4.      What happens if I go over my minutes?

If you go over your minutes, you will be assessed overage charges. You should fill out the call log form; have the log signed by the respective department head or vice chancellor. If the overage is approved then only submit the call log. Issue payment to the University for Unapproved Service Plan Overage Charges.

5.      Does my phone have insurance?

The PDA equipment has insurance.

6.      What phones are available?

7.      What if I lose my phone or what if it is stolen?

In the event the equipment is stolen, file a report with Campus Police and send a copy of the police report and a letter (on department stationary) with approved signatures for replacement of equipment.

 9.      What is the clicking noise I hear when I place a call?

The clicking noise is normal when you are placing a call. It simply means that a connection is being established between your phone and the person you are calling.

10.  Can I make changes to my plan online?

Yes you can make changes to your plan online at alltei.com by logging in with your id and password, which was sent to you via email.

11.  Can I check my bill online?

Yes you can check your bill online at alitel.corn by logging in with your id and password, which was sent to you via email.

12.  Does the university provide accessories with the phone? How much are the accessories?

The university provides some accessories, but the ones not provided are 25% discount off of list price.

13.  How do I obtain the forms necessary for the wireless process?

The forms are available online.

14.  What is a letter of justification?

A justification letter is a formal request for a university cell phone.

15.  What is F.O.A.P.?

F.O.A.P. is the New Banner Accounting Procedure it stands for Fund, Organization, Account and Program

16.  Why do I have to complete an Estimated Departmental Expense form every year?

Because of changes in FOAP per department that occur annually to ensure continued necessity and justification for each user.

17.  What should the departmental general file include?

The general file should include users' name, departmental source of funding and wireless telephone number.

18.  What are reassignment records and what should they include?

Reassignment records are kept when a phone is switched from one user to another. A letter on departmental stationary of the reassignment should be sent to the Administrative Technical Service Department, and the letter should include the original and new users name, telephone number and FOAP information.

19.  Who is responsible for the increase in service charges?

An increase in service charges that is greater than the Estimated Departmental Expense will be the responsibility of the department.

20.  How are billing issues resolved?

The Administrative Technical Service Department is responsible for primary contact with the telephone provider for any billing and service issues.

21.  Who will assure the reimbursement of overage charges?

The Administrative Technical Service Department will assure the reimbursement or authorized documentation of overage charges.

22.  When do I submit a call log?

A call log should only be submitted when the plan minutes are exceeded and there are overage charges.
