The Leon Warren, Sr. Endowed Scholarship Fund

Mr. Warren, Sr. retired from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs for Career Services in 2001, after serving the State of North Carolina for 39 years. Twenty-nine years were spent at NC A&T State University. There he planned, organized, supervised, and developed the Office of Career Services from a staff of two people, to one of eight professionals who worked in a highly technical and competitive environment. Through involvement in University Committees and Professional Organizations, he developed his skills as an administrator and fundraiser.

He has been the recipient of many awards, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award (NAFEO), Administrator of the year at NC A&T State University, Performance Award Division of Student Affairs, Outstanding Professional Award North Carolina Association of College and Employers, Lifetime membership to the College Placement Association. He has also been distinguished as one of the 100 Outstanding Alumni, and was inducted into the NC A&T State University Athletic Hall of Fame. He has published in the Black Collegiate Magazine "Put Your Job Interests into Focus".

Leon completed his under graduate work at NC A&T State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and History. He received a Master of Science Degree in Education and History, a Master of Science Degree in Education Administration and Supervision, and completed courses towards a Doctoral Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The NC A&T State University/Industry Cluster established the Leon Warren Endowed Scholarship Fund. Mr. Leon Warren, Sr. is married to Margaret Carlton Warren and they have two sons, Leon Warren, II (Wife Camela; son Leon Warren, III), and Franklin T. Warren (Wife Lisa).

Leon Warren, Sr. Endowed Scholarship Criteria

Scholarships from the Leon Warren Scholarship Endowment Fund will be awarded to deserving students as determined by the University Scholarship Committee based on the criteria cited below. In making the selection, this committee shall consider such attributes as scholarship, leadership, community service, exceptional talent and financial need. The committee shall give special selection consideration to:
• Student football athletes recommended by head coach to the Director of Athletics
• Students meeting the eligibility requirements of the NCAA and the MEAC
• Students with a grade point average of 2.5 or better
• The Director of Athletics must submit a copy of the recipient's grades to the University Scholarship Committee
