Doris Levone Graham Hunter Scholarship Fund

Mrs. Doris Levon Graham Hunter was born on November 18, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John A. Graham and Mrs. Gertrude W. Graham.

Doris accepted Christ at an early age and joined Franklin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, in Laurinburg, NC. Doris was united in Holy Matrimony to Danny Hunter on July 2, 1999. After her marriage, she moved her membership to St. James C.M.E. Church in Lynchburg, VA, where she served on the Missionary Board under the leadership of the Rev. Arlene Boozer.

Mrs. Hunter began working at Kittrell College in 1972. Doris joined the staff of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro in 1973, where she worked in various capacities. For over a decade, she was the North Carolina A&T State University Registrar until her untimely death. She was employed at North Carolina A&T State University for over 32 years. She was a loyal and dedicated employee and she touched many lives.

Doris was a member of several professional organizations: The Carolina Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admission Officers; The Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers; The National Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the United Piedmont Center for Educational Excellence in Greensboro. She volunteered for several community agencies, including Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. She was a loyal member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., and the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association.


Doris Levon Graham Hunter Scholarship Fund

Scholarships from the Doris Levon Graham Hunter Scholarship Endowment Fund will be awarded to deserving students as determined by the University Scholarship Committee based on the criteria cited below. In making the selection, this committee shall consider such attributes as scholarship, leadership, community service, exceptional talent and financial need. The committee shall give special selection consideration to:
• Students with a grade point average of 2.5 or better
• Single parent families
