Willie A. Deese, executive vice president and president of the Merck Manufacturing Division, will be the keynote speaker for North Carolina A&T State University upcoming Closing Bell Series. The event will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m., in Merrick Hall Auditorium. Deese will discuss the topic: Global Manufacturing and International Business Relations.
Deese is responsible for Merck’s worldwide manufacturing operations. He oversees 85 manufacturing and distribution sites in over 25 countries around the world with 26,000 people reporting to him and with an operating budget of $9.0 B. He is also responsible for Merck’s global procurement organization.
Deese currently serves as chair of N.C. A&T Board of Trustees. He earned his B.A. in business administration from A&T in 1977, and his M.B.A. at Western New England College in 1983.
The closing bell series, which started in September 2008, is sponsored by N.C. A&T School of Business and Economics. The series brings successful scholarly professionals to the campus to engage with students in topical discussions that reflect the changing global environment.
