Undergraduate Research Programs


The MBRS Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) program at North Carolina A&T State University supports unique student development activities including a pre-matriculation program, sophomore immersion program, on-campus faculty mentored research experiences, summer research internships, tutoring, supplemental instruction, graduate school and GRE workshops.



Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (U-STAR) provides support for undergraduate students who are underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences to improve their preparation for high-caliber graduate training at the Ph.D. level. The program also supports efforts to strengthen the biomedical research training at institutions with significant enrollments of students from underrepresented groups.



The Integrative Biomathematics Learning and Engagement Network for Diversity (iBLEND) project at North Carolina A&T State University prepares students for graduate study at the interface of biology and mathematics. The iBLEND project supplies both a physical and virtual intellectual setting where Students find a sense of identification, belonging, responsibility, and achievement for leadership and service roles in biomathematical research careers. The ICUBED (I3) project introduces new areas of research to faculty and graduate students through their involvement with undergraduate research projects that focus on the emerging interdisciplinary field of systems biology. ICUBED bridges together engineering and biology programs at North Carolina A&T State University. The iGEM project at A&T is a synthetic biology student-led initiative where we seek to learn from and participate in the activities of the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) Foundation. Synthetic biology is a helpful means to assess undergraduate learning relative to basic concepts, comprehension, discovery, and integration of modern biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
