The Gathering - a Conference for Institutionally Related Foundations

The North Carolina A&T University Foundation will host “The Gathering,” a conference for HBCU institutionally related foundations, Jan. 11-13, 2006, at the new Alumni-Foundation Event Center.

Some of the best practitioners - along with members of HBCU foundation boards, college/university leadership, and foundation and development staff – have been invited to share ideas and practices that have been successful for their institutions.

Sessions topics include fund raising and boards, alignment and governance between foundations and universities, privatized real estate, asset allocation and best practices, memoranda of understanding, entrepreneurial activities and roundtable discussions.

“The sessions will address issues in a manner that captures the nuance of HBCUs and related foundations,” said David Hoard N.C. A&T vice chancellor for development and university relations, executive director of A&T University Foundation Inc., and one of the conference planners/presenters.

Other planners and presenters include Katey Assem, vice president for advancement and research at Fort Valley State University; Roy Cheatham, president, Lincoln University Foundation (Mo.); Susan Hester, interim vice chancellor for institutional advancement, North Carolina Central University; Michael Hill, vice president for development and external relations, Lincoln University, (Pa.); Lee Richardson, interim vice chancellor for institutional advancement, Winston-Salem State University, and Paul Shelton, executive director, Norfolk State University Foundation/vice president for university of advancement, Norfolk State University.
