NC-LSAMP

Program Overview

The North Carolina Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NC-LSAMP) seeks to increase the quality and quantity of students successfully completing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree programs.  The program also strives to raise the number of students interested in, academically qualified for, and matriculated into programs of graduate study. NC-LSAMP provides program activities designed to increase recruitment, retention and degree attainment among student populations historically underrepresented in STEM fields.

Faculty Mentored Research

Strong research skills are critical to success in graduate school and the STEM workforce. The Faculty Mentored Research experience provides students with opportunities to develop foundational research skills while being mentored by a faculty member. Research scholars conduct research at NC A&T, partner institutions and national laboratories and present research findings at local, regional and national conferences.

NC-LSAMP Annual Research Conference

Through presentations at the NC-LSAMP Annual Research Conference, students develop a deeper understanding of their research and essential presentation and critical reflection
skills, laying a solid foundation for graduate thesis defense.

Student Development Workshops

Student development workshops expose participants to a variety of topics that enhance their undergraduate experience, broaden exposure to the STEM workforce and provide opportunities to develop nonacademic skills to facilitate their success as STEM undergraduates and their transition to graduate school
