LEAD Program

Leaders Enhancing Academic Development (LEAD)

Leaders Enhancing Academic Development (LEAD) is a program led by sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This academic support program provides an impactful and relevant leadership opportunity for our high-achieving students.

The program serves freshmen enrolled in the Freshman Colloquium course (GEEN111) offered by the College of Engineering (COE) and also enrolled in either Calculus I or Pre-calculus course.

Students are required to attend two, 90-minute sessions scheduled on two evenings a week. About eight to nine students form a group and are assigned a “Facilitator” who leads the study sessions.

Each classroom also has a lead student termed a “Mentor”. Data from the past two years for the LEAD Program has shown significant increase in the number of students passing Calculus I or Pre-Calculus.
