One-year program track for M.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering

General Description
The M.S. in ISE program has course-only, project, and thesis option leading to the same M.S. degree in ISE. The one-year M.S. program track is identical to the course-only option and can be completed with the following schedule that incorporates taking two summer courses.

Fall Semester:
ISEN 665: Human Machine Systems (Core course)
ISEN 675: Design and Analysis of Experiments (Core course)

Take two electives from the following:
ISEN 673:  Biomechanics
ISEN 615: Industrial Simulation
ISEN 742: Linear Optimization
ISEN 814: Advanced Topics in Human-Machine Systems
ISEN 813: Cognitive Systems Engineering
ISEN 821: Multivariate Statistics for Engineers
ISEN 833: Supply Chain Systems Engineering

Spring Semester:
ISEN 625: Information Systems (Core course)
ISEN 655: Production Planning and Scheduling (Core course)

Take two electives from the following:

This program track is intended for STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) majors newly graduating with a B.S. degree, as well as for those already in the workforce who are interested in:

  • Expanding their education beyond the Bachelor of Science level and improving their professional competitiveness in the job market;
  • Completing an M.S. degree within 12-months, beginning fall semester and ending during the following summer semester;
  • Gaining an M.S. degree prior to joining a Ph.D. program at any institutions of higher education.

 

Eligibility:
This program track is designed to serve students with a Bachelor of Science degree in STEM majors from US or international institutions who meet the Graduate College and departmental admission requirements.

Admission requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized by a regional or general accrediting agency.
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • The official TOEFL score (at least 80 or higher internet-based score), or IELTS score (6.5 or higher) for international applicants.
  • Graduate admission application.
  • Application fee.
  • Transcript.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Personal Statement
  • Applicants without a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering will need to take relevant background courses (GEEN 162: Computer programming in Visual Basic for Engineers / GEEN 163: Introduction to Computer Programming, MATH 132: Calculus II, ISEN 370: Engineering Statistics, ISEN 600: Survey of Industrial and Systems Engineering Topics).
  • Applicants to this one-year M.S. program track are required to be self-funded for their graduate education.
