Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Electrical Engineering has been a professional field since the 1880's with the expansion of the use and application of electricity.  One major established industry, the telegraph, began in the 1840's using electricity to connect the world with a communications system faster than the speed of transportation. The second major area opened when Thomas Edison’s inventions and pioneering at the Pearl Street Station in New York flipped the switch for the first large scale use of electricity in society.

Computer engineering evolved from electrical engineering and computer science, marrying the two to develop computer systems. The focus is not on just how computer systems are engineered or built, but also on how they can be applied to address societal needs.

Our accredited electrical and computer engineering programs provide students the opportunity to pursue careers that are integral to our modern everyday lives, providing skills to advance society and creating possibilities for business development around the globe. Our outstanding faculty continue to explore new avenues to transfer engineering skills while pursuing research opportunities to expand their knowledge of practical applications of electrical and computer engineering concepts.  Together, the faculty, staff and students have built a reputation for sound engineering practices and significant contributions in industry, government and the private sector.

Join us as we equip electrical and computer engineers for opportunities in the 21st Century. Our curriculum provide students with the opportunity to explore practical engineering and scientific concepts to create solutions for the engineering challenges of the future.

It gives us great pride to graduate students with credentials that make them competitive in the marketplace and students who are prepared to continue the learning process through their lifetime.  We welcome you to our website to explore what we offer and how we demonstrate our passion in providing a quality education.
