Mission: The mission of the Center for Distance Learning is to increase access to the University and to expand exemplary course offerings and programs through state-of-the-art instructional delivery systems. These systems address the educational and professional development needs of the University students, faculty, and other stakeholders with a focus on relevance, quality, and utility.
Vision: We are dedicated to providing high quality programs to diverse audiences at any place and at any time by effectively using cutting edge technologies. We are committed to providing distributed learning resources to aid learners at all stages of their careers, specifically adult learners, at times convenient to meeting both career and personal obligations.
We achieve this vision by:

  • Providing high priority programs focused on customer needs and expectations.
  • Creating a shared vision at every level.
  • Enhancing internal and external communications and collaboration.
  • Adopting innovative models for staff development and training.
  • Maintaining a deep commitment and focus on personal and group leadership development, which empower team learning.
  • Linking and securing resources in response to identified needs and programs.
  • Marketing and promoting programs to internal and external target audiences.

The Center for Distance Learning (CDL) works closely together with academic departments to pursue common goals of pedagogical excellence in all aspects of the university course delivery, whether they are off-site or online. CDL provides professional development activities and video, voice, and data professionals to further assist faculty members with online course development.

The CDL staff works closely with eLearning grant principal investigators to review and submit proposals, develop courses, process PD105 forms for faculty developers, and address all other budgetary concerns in order to maximize use of all allocated funds.

In addition, the CDL staff collaborates with student services to improve the registration process and the overall experience for eLearning students. CDL’s overall goal is to make the distance learning experience as smooth and rich as possible such that it is indistinguishable from the on-campus experience.
