Prospective Students

The College of Health and Human Sciences is comprised of departments formerly housed within the Schools of Education, Nursing and the College of Arts and Sciences. CHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between the departments of human performance and leisure studies, psychology, sociology and social work, and nursing. As a result, the new college will develop advanced academic health science programming, enhance the production of healthcare practitioners as well as faculty research and scholastic activity.

Department Requirements

Psychology Major Requirements

The major in psychology must complete a minimum of 120 semester hours of courses. 

35 credit hours of General Education Courses (GED)

45 credit hours of required psychology courses

9 credit hours of required non-psychology courses

31 credit hours of free electives

The minimum load for a full-time undergraduate is 12 credit hours per semester.

The normal course load for a full-time undergraduate is 15 credit hours per semester.

The maximum course load for a full-time undergraduate is 18 credit hours per semester.

You must average 15 credit hours per semester in order to graduate in four (4) years.

You must have at least a 2.8 GPA out of high school in order to major in psychology, or a 2.8 in order to transfer into psychology from another university or major.

You must make at least a "C" in ALL of your psychology classes.

You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 in order to graduate. 



Psychology Minor Requirements

Students desiring to minor in psychology must complete PSYC 101 or PSYC 110 (3 hours), and 15 additional credit hours of Psycology courses.

Students completing the minor must earn a grade of "C" or better in all courses for the minor.

Students must complete a minimum of 24 academic credits before declaring a minor.
