A strategic priority of the University is to ensure that standards of academic excellence and student success are prominent throughout colleges, schools, departments, programs and majors. This is a central mission of the College of Health and Human Sciences and the Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies. The Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies is committed to the success of our students while they are enrolled in our programs and as graduates. Our goal is to offer a supportive academic and intellectual environment for all students that engages them in multiple and creative ways of learning. An important goal is to cultivate habits of thinking and behaving that are critical to success, and, to facilitate growth in discipline-specific knowledge, skills and abilities. We are committed to cultivating leaders of tomorrow by supplementing academic experiences with co-curricular activities obtained through student development opportunities in student organizations and in university, college and departmental experiences.  Our goal is to instill in our students the reality that they are on a journey, one in which they realize, every day, they are better than they were yesterday and not as good as they will be tomorrow - because that’s what Aggies DO!
