The Chancellor Search Committee of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical
State University has been appointed to work towards finding the 12th chancellor
of this historic institution.
The N.C. A&T State University Chancellor Search Committee includes members
of the board of trustees, the faculty, the staff, the student body, the alumni
and the community. Erskine B. Bowles, president of the University of North Carolina
System, gave the committee its charge March 13. Dr. Franklin E. McCain Sr. is
chair.

Established in 1891, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University,
is a public, land-grant university, ranked third in research among the University
of North Carolina System's 16 member institutions. Located in the heart of Greensboro,
N.C., A&T is one of America’s largest Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs). A&T is a learner-centered community that develops and
preserves intellectual capital through interdisciplinary learning, discovery,
engagement, and operational excellence.
The university is ranked by the Carnegie Classification System as “high
research activity,” and graduates the most minority engineers and the largest
number of African-American psychology undergraduates in the nation. A&T is
one of the largest producers of African American certified public accountants,
and true to its heritage, home to the largest agricultural school of any HBCU
and the second largest producer of minority agricultural graduates. The institution
has a prestigious National Science Foundation's Engineering Research Center (ERC)
grant for biomedical engineering and nano-bio applications research and a nationally
accredited AACSB School of Business & Economics. In addition, A&T has
agricultural research, cooperative extension, and a diversity of learners pursuing
baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees.
