  • N.C. A&T was established in 1891 as a public land-grant institution.
  • A&T has the Carnegie Classification of “high research activity” institution offering 116 baccalaureate, 54 master’s and 5 doctoral academic programs.
  • A&T is the first HBCU to receive the prestigious Engineering Research Center (ERC) grant awarded by the National Science Foundation for biomedical engineering and nano-bio applications research. This award totals $18 million over five years with a 10-year life span.
  • A&T is the nation’s leading producer of African-American undergraduates in engineering and psychology.
  • Researchers at North Carolina A&T State University have received a $12.5 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to fund an Interdisciplinary Scientific Environmental Technology (ISET) Cooperative Research and Education Center on the campus. This ISET center will cooperate with NOAA’s Earth Science Research Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado.
  • A&T is one of the leading producers of minority certified public accountants and landscape architects.
  • A&T’s School of Business and Economics is fully accredited in all undergraduate accounting and business programs by AACSB International.
  • A&T is one of only three schools in North Carolina with an ACEJMC accredited program in Journalism and Mass Communication.
  • The Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) program is the only stand-alone CSE graduate degree program in the UNC System and the first among HBCUs in the country.
  • In 2007, A&T entered into a collaborative partnership with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro that established state-of-the-art research facilities (Gateway University Research Park) that will house cutting edge work in life and physical sciences, engineering, technology and other applied science areas. This Gateway University Research Park will attract and retain educational, corporate and community service agencies that advance scientific and educational research.
