Alumni Excellence Awards

The College of Education Alumni Awards Committee honors individuals who have made a positive impact on the field of education and human services through their work in the areas of equity, access, and advocacy. The committee encourages nominations from alumni who are scholars, administrators, practitioners, and innovators in the field.  

You may nominate alumni or you may nominate yourself in one of four distinct categories. Not all awards may be given each year depending on the number of nominations received. Nominations for the 2018 Alumni Awards will open in Winter 2017. 

The Lifetime Achievement Award 

Given in recognition of alumni for significant contributions in education and other fields that have had a sustained large-scale impact on educational policy, professional practice, community engagement, research, or scholarship. Alumni nominated for this award must have at least 15 years of signification contributions exemplified by a commitment to equity, access, and advocacy. The Outstanding Administrator Award 

Given in recognition of alumni who currently serve as an administrator in K-12 school district or school, two- or four-year institution of higher education, or a community agency. Alumni nominated for this award must have at least five (5) years of signification contributions exemplified by a commitment to equity, access, and advocacy. The Outstanding Practitioner Award

Given in recognition of alumni currently employed as a practitioner in a K-12 school district or school, two- or four-year institution of higher education, or a community agency. Alumni nominated for this award must have at least five (5) years of signification contributions exemplified by a commitment to equity, access, and advocacy.  The Young Alumni Excellence Award 

Given in recognition of alumni younger than 35 years of age who recently graduated from a College of Education undergraduate program (i.e., Elementary Education or Speech) who has made significant contributions in his o her profession, community, society, or university. Alumni nominated for this award must have at least three (3) years of signification contributions exemplified by a commitment to equity, access, and advocacy. We encourage nomination that recognize the contributions of early, middle, and advanced career alumni. Award recipients will be invited to campus or an awards ceremony. Nominees must have received at least one degree from the College of Education (or the former School of Education) at North Carolina A&T State University.

Required Supporting Documents

Each award requires specific supporting documentation. The online submission link provides specific directions on the documentation required for each award. At minimum, each award requires the following:

1) The nominee’s curriculum vita or resume in Microsoft Word or PDF format

2)  A one-page single space response to a specified prompt in Microsoft Word or PDF format

3)  One letter of support from a professional colleague

4)  Documentation that illustrates the nominee has given back to the university via a financial contribution.

These documents must be uploaded into the online nomination system using the required submission format.

 Nomination Deadline Date

The deadline date for all College of Education awards is Friday, February 2nd, 2018. All required documentation must be uploaded before 11:59 PM on this date.
