The Application Process

Persons applying for graduate study in the Department of Counseling at North Carolina A&T State University must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college. The application packet may be obtained from the the Graduate College, Room 120 Gibbs Hall. Only complete applications are reviewed. Prospective students are encouraged to follow-up with the Graduate College regarding the completion of their application packet.  

The Department of Counseling at North Carolina A&T State University accepts and reviews applications for admission once a year. Deadline for counseling applications is Feb 15th. The Department requires the following:

  • 3 Letters of Recommendation (preferably from academic professors)
  • A Statement of Purpose
  • Resume
  • All University Transcripts
  • Application Fee
  • Application 
  • GRE (optional)

The applicant’s packet will be reviewed by the Graduate College and the Admissions Committee of the Department of Counseling. Applicants may be requested to participate in a pre-admission interview with departmental faculty. The admissions decision at the department level is based on the recommendation of the Admissions Committee, other departmental faculty, and the chairperson.
