Professional Development

Fall Conference TableStudents have the opportunity to participate in a variety of special events both on and off campus. The Counseling Faculty and other campus departments organize multiple professional development events throughout the year. These events include the Fall Family Counseling Conference (pictured at right) and the Rehabilitation of Ethnic Minorities with Behavioral Addictions (REMBA) conference which provide our students with additional training and exposure to the profession outside of the classroom. Recent events include:

Students from the Mental Health Counseling - Clinical program also routinely participate in professional conferences at the local, state, and national levels. This participation may be in the form of volunteer service, exhibiting, poster presentations, or educational sessions. Not only is conference presentation an excellent experience, but students have the opportunity to interact with other counseling professionals.

Additionally, the study-abroad activities offered through the department provide further professional growth opportunities and students are encouraged to maintain memberships in related professional Organizations such as the North Carolina Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association.
