Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I am honored to serve as the Dean for this prestigious academic unit.

In the College of Education, we pride ourselves on producing educational leaders who transform their communities with their knowledge, expertise, and skills and who galvanize stakeholders to remedy critical educational issues within our society. Our School is composed of four academic departments: (1) the Department of Educator Preparation, (2) the Department of Counseling, (3) the Department of Administration and Instructional Services, and (4) the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education. Through these departments, we offer degree programs and certificate programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree levels. Our degree programs are designed to produce transformational servant leaders who are “catalysts for leading and learning” within their respective professions and communities.

Through teaching, scholarship, and engagement, the College’s faculty prepare our candidates to use appropriate assessments and technologies to respond to the needs of diverse people irrespective of environment or context. Our candidates actively reflect on data, scholarly literature, and their practice to inform their decision making and future action. Regardless of degree program or certification area, faculty and staff within the College of Education emphasize preparing candidates who have a positive impact on children, adolescents, adults, families, schools, communities, agencies, and organizations.

I am extremely proud of the strong partnerships we have established with child care facilities, K-12 schools, community and counseling agencies, sports medicine and rehabilitation facilities, and various non-profit organizations within Greensboro, the Piedmont Triad region, and throughout the state of North Carolina. These partnerships provide our candidates with meaningful and practical authentic experiences that prepare them for “real world” challenges and issues in the 21st Century within our communities, state, nation, and world.

The faculty in the College of Education at North Carolina A&T State University includes nationally recognized scholars, university “Teacher of the Year” award recipients, influential community leaders, former university administrators, and practitioners who are recognized locally and throughout North Carolina. Each faculty member within the School is committed to positively impacting their profession and community through teaching, scholarship, and engagement. Consequently, our candidates directly benefit from the outstanding work of our faculty as they are frequently included in faculty research and engagement activities.

After you explore our website, I encourage you to contact us so you can schedule a visit to our beautiful campus and engage with the professionals in the College of Education. We welcome you to the College of Education, and I invite you to join us as we strive for equity, access, and advocacy within our communities.

Anthony Graham, Ph.D.
