Message from the Chair

Studying the visual and performing arts, is a vital mechanism for life and the survival of the human spirit. At a time when things are changing so rapidly, we cannot really expect to fully comprehend our past nor foresee our future without cultivating creative minds. The importance of the arts as an educational tool can in no way be minimized in our modern-day state of affairs. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences offers a multitude of artistic, humanistic, and life long values for creating all genres of art. It is vital that the visual and performing arts continue to expand understanding of human life and its surroundings, thereby elevating one's awareness and global exposure. As interim department chair, I strongly believe that creative academics and the study of all art forms leads to outstanding vision of what we do and how we do it resulting in: public performance and artistry.
