If you watched "Assignment America" on CBS Evening News with Katie
Couric on August 31, you viewed a story about a remarkable young woman.
Assignment America's Steve Hartman came on campus to interview Monique Johnson,
a junior majoring in Business Administration here at North Carolina Agricultural
and Technical State University. The report shared information about a fund-raiser
that
Monique has organized to to raise money
to continue paying for her education and a full-time aide.
Monique was born with dyastrophic dysplasia dwarfism - a physical disorder
which hinders her ability to walk. She uses a specialized scooter for mobility.
Against all odds, Johnson honed her talent as an artist and has been selling
her artwork throughout the community to help raise money to pay for an
aide who must assist her daily while she lives on campus.
Monique's courage, faith and
determination have inspired many people. Do you have some thoughts you would like to share with her?
If you like, you may use the space below to
send her a personal
greeting through our website.
We wish Monique the best as she continues her education. Aggie
