Biography:

Angela K. Miles (PhD) teaches Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. She is the NC A&T Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Advisor and was named NC A&T Student Organization Advisor of the Year in 2009. The student chapter is annually recognized for the National SHRM Superior Merit Award. Dr. Miles also serves as the program leader for the Human Resource Management concentration in the Masters of Science in Management Program and was the 2008 and 2009 recipient of the Junior Faculty Teaching Award for the School of Business and Economics. She has led student groups on study abroad trips to Brazil, Eastern Europe, Spain and China, while conducting research in these countries, as well as other international venues. Dr. Miles has also presented globally in the management discipline.

Dr. Miles holds a doctorate from Florida State University, MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a BA from the University of Virginia. Professionally, she holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. Her research is focused on organizational stress, office ergonomics, quality of work life issues, spirituality, and employment law. Dr. Miles is published in numerous journals and conference proceedings and is the recipient of copious conference Best Paper Awards, Teaching Awards and fellowships. She has also completed terms on several professional and community boards where the focus is on education, the arts and social responsibility. Furthermore, she has held leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Academy of Management, National Black MBA Association and Southern Management Association. She was previously employed in the banking, automotive and telecommunications industries.
