Pre College Summer ProgramsSummer Programs for High School Students
College bound? A pre-college summer program in the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES) at N.C. A&T can help you find direction. Participation in a summer program can help you plan your future, prepare for college life, and give you memories and friends to last a lifetime.
The SAES offers three free residential summer programs for high school students, some of which offer stipends.
- Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) – Students spend a month between mid- June and mid-July learning research methods from top scientists in the SAES. Apprentices also complete an independent research project. A stipend and free room and board are provided.

- Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL), co-sponsored by the North Carolina Farm Bureau, is a week-long program in June to build leadership potential in rising seniors who are interested in agriscience professions. Room and board are free. Information about applications is available at http://www.ncfb.org/Programs/InstituteforFutureAgriculturalLeaders.aspx
- Agribusiness Institute – This free, eight-day, non-residential summer program is for rising juniors and seniors in high school, who have completed Algebra I. The program will be held 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon.- Thurs., July 8 – 11 & July 15 – 18. Lunches are provided. During the program, students will get exposure to agribusiness industries, including supply chain management in food product development. Applicants should have a strong interest in business, science, technology and/or mathematics. Application deadline is Friday, May 31, 2013. Instructions can be found here.
