Dr. Tracy Hanner

Dr. Hanner serves as the Coordinator of Veterinary Education, resident clinical veterinarian, and Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Animal Sciences. Prior to that Tracy was employed by the National Institutes for Environmental Health Sciences, Research Triangle Park, NC. as a Laboratory Animal Technologist.
Teaching responsibilities include freshmen orientation, introduction to laboratory animal science, biology and disease of laboratory animals, internships in laboratory animal science, and facility management and clinical technique.
During his tenure he has been named advisor and teacher of year, served as chairman of the institutional animal care and use committee, elected to Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture and the Golden Keys. He has been a quest lecturer at Duke University and North Carolina State University, also served on the college of veterinary medicine admissions committee for fifteen year.
Dr. Hanner has published in the American Journal of Veterinary Education, Laboratory Technique for Bio-research (Biotechniques), the American Journal of Veterinary Research, Journal of Laboratory Animal Science and has two book chapter contributions. Besides teaching and research, Dr Hanner is active as an advisor to the Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club and the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences. In 2005 He was named National Role Model of the Year, and in 2009 he received the Iverson Bell Award for Veterinary Medicine from the AVMA.
