Equine Unit

North Carolina has a vibrant equine industry, generating more than $700 million in gross revenues, and providing jobs through breeding, training and boarding stables, as well as veterinary care, feed dealers and equestrian stores. The industry continues to attract horse enthusiasts to the state. In 2007, the General Assembly appropriated $500,000 to conduct an economic impact study of the equine industry.

Learning

The Equine Unit at the University Farm serves as a laboratory to instruct students enrolled in horse management.
Students at N.C. A&T also gain hands-on experience with horses by becoming members of the North Carolina A&T Equine Judging Team, or the North Carolina A&T Equestrian Team, which competes in the Western riding division of the National Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

For more about education in equine management or large animal science, check the animal sciences curriculums in the Department of Animal Sciences in the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
