The Master of School Administration (MSA) Degree Program prepares students to become School Executives, primarily school principals and central office leaders. The 42 hour program includes 30 hours of coursework and 12 hours of field-based study which includes a supervised internship. A maximum of 6 hours of master’s level work may be transferred into the MSA program of study, with approval by the assigned MSA advisor. The program provides the options of part time and full time study. Students who meet the NC Principal Fellows criteria (details online), and who are interested in full time study and full time internship may apply to the NC Principal Fellows Program for full tuition and stipend to enroll in the MSA at NCA&T. The NC Principal Fellows application deadline is December 31 for Fall 2013 program enrollments.
Additional Admission Requirements
- Three (3) years of recent teaching experience or professional education experience
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- GRE scores
- Current resume
- Writing sample (see MSA website for topic options)
- One of the three letters of recommendation must be from a school principal
- Interview with 1 or 2 MSA faculty members

Additional Details:
Candidates for the MSA degree must submit and receive a grade of “Passed” on the NC Department of Public Instruction’s School Executive Evidences in order to graduate from the MSA program. These evidences are special assignments which provide evidence to the School of Education at NC A&T and to the NC Department of Public Instruction, that the candidate has successfully demonstrated proficiency in meeting the standards for School Executives. MSA faculty provide students with coaching as they develop their evidence assignments.
