The Department of Management offers a program of study leading to the Master of Science in Management degree with a major concentration in Human Resources Management (HRM). The program prepares students and professionals for careers in public and private sector positions in the Human Resources Management function of organizations and managers interested in understanding how to effectively develop and manage human resources.
Additional Admission Requirements
- Appropriate GMAT or GRE exam scores. GMAT and GRE exam is waived if undergraduate GPA is 3.30 or higher
- A current resume
Learning Objectives:
- Students will understand the concepts and applications of the HRM funtion, and its contribution to firm performance.
- Students will comprehend the strategic importance of the HRM function as a competitive advantage.
- Students will be able to plan, manage, and revise a HRM function in a professional domestic or global setting, while demonstrating the appropriate responses to ehtical, social, and multicultural issues.
Degree Requirements
The Master of Science in Management degree program requires a minimum of 30 semester hours of coursework.

Admission to Candidacy
Completion of all required courses as specified in the Plan of Study and a minimum 3.0 GPA are required for graduation.
Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are available to outstanding students from The Graduate School and the School of Business and Economics. In addition tuition remission and scholarships are also available for outstanding students.
Internships
While internships are encouraged, they are not required as part of the progam requirements. Students have the opportunity to explore internships and full time employment opportunities at the North Carolina A&T State University Career Fair held each semester on campus. Over 100 companies typically participate in these events.
Advising
Advising for all Master of Science in Management (MSM) students and Post Baccalaureate Studies (PBS) students is provided by the MSM program director in conjunction with department chairs.
Research Opportunities/Experiences
MSM students have the opportunity to join/assist faculty in joint research efforts. In addition students can become involved in various graduate business case competitions. Expenses for travel to these competitions may be supported partially or in full by the School of Business and Economics.
Program Certification/Accreditation
The MSM program is accredited by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. This is the premier accrediting agency for undergraduate and graduate schools of business, economics, and accountancy.
In addition the Human Resources Management concentration is one of few graduate HRM programs certified by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).
