Engineers Week February 18-23, 2013
North Carolina A&T State University’s College of Engineering will celebrate National Engineers Week from February 18–22, 2013. More than 1700 undergraduate and graduate engineering students from the College of Engineering will participate in the weeklong series of events. The theme for National Engineers Week is: “Celebrate Awesome.”
National Engineers Week is observed each year during the month of February to highlight the contributions of engineering to society. The celebration of National Engineers Week coincides with the birthday of President George Washington, who some consider the nation’s first engineer (because of his survey work). Colleges and universities, government agencies, corporations and professional societies across America will celebrate this event.
A host of activities and programs are planned for students, faculty, staff, K-12 students and teachers; engineering professionals, and corporate partners. The opening ceremony will commence on Monday, February 18, 2013, at noon, in the McNair Hall Auditorium. The week’s activities include: Energy Day, research showcases, professional development workshops, the Annual Engineers Week Awards Banquet, and the annual spring career fair. In addition, the College’s K-12 activities will include pre-college initiatives, where over 1000 middle school and high school students are expected to visit our campus. Students will participate in hands-on engineering activities.
The week will culminate with the Order of Engineers Ceremony, as graduating seniors take the “Oath of Engineering.”
