Dianna J. Vass, Ph.D.
Interim Senior Director of Development
College of Engineering

Dr. Dianna Vass is the Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering (COE) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T) in Greensboro, NC. Under Dr. Vass’s advancement leadership, the College continues to leverage engaged stakeholders and philanthropic funds for the benefit of students, faculty, and staff.  Corporate, foundation, government, and alumni advancement initiatives include strategic planning, research, proposal writing, and promoting the College and the university through multimedia, campus visits, and travel. .  Dr. Vass has expanded and diversified the university's funder base through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewarding of philanthropic gifts and infusing alumni leadership in the College of Engineering special events..  Promoting the College and leading fund development activities, Dr. Vass continues to increase revenue streams to support the strategic direction of the College of Engineering.

Prior to joining the College of Engineering leadership team, Dr. Vass served as the Quality Assurance Director for National Wholesale, a direct marketer of women’s apparel and accessories in Lexington, NC.  Dr. Vass has served as adjunct faculty at N.C. A&T and as an Assistant Professor in Textile Products Design and Marketing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She has research expertise in Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Apparel Design, Apparel Technical Design and Fit, Product Design, and Quality of Life and Needs of Older Adults.

Dr. Vass is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society.  Additionally, she is a member of discipline specific honor societies in the sciences and professional organizations (Kappa Omicron Nu-human sciences; Sigma Phi Omega-gerontology; Alpha Phi Mu-industrial engineering; Society of Women Engineers; and Council for Advancement and Support of Education).   

Educational Background:

Dr. Dianna Vass earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware, and holds Master of Science degrees from Virginia Tech and North Carolina State University, all degrees focusing on Apparel and Textile Management and Design.  
Her doctoral degree is from Virginia Tech in Textiles and Apparel Quality Assurance.  Currently, Dr. Vass is completing a master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from N.C. A&T, focusing on the interconnectivity between supply chain management and the philanthropic development cycle.
