Department Requirements

Psychology major: The major in psychology must complete 124-126 semester hours of University courses. Included in the 124-126 hours are 35-37 hours of General Education requirements, 38 hours of psychology courses, 12 hours of non-psychology courses, and 39 hours of free electives.

You must have at least a 2.8 GPA out of high school in order to major in psychology, or a 2.8 in order to transfer into psychology from another university or major.

You must make at least a "C" in ALL of your psychology classes.

You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 in order to graduate.

Psychology minor: Students desiring to minor in psychology must complete PSYC320 or PSYC321 (3 hours), and three of the following: PSYC324, PSYC420, PSYC434, PSYC439 (9 hours), and two additional psychology electives (6 hours). Students completing the minor must earn a grade of "C" or better in all courses for the minor. Students must complete a minimum of 24 academic credits before declaring a minor.
