Student Organizations MAA Student Chapter
The student chapter of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is a student national and professional organization in which all math majors are encouraged to become actively involved beginning in their freshman year. Its professional and social activities are planned by student members. The organization meets twice monthly and has sponsored seminars, tutorial programs and study sessions.
Pi Mu Epsilon Chapter
North Carolina A&T has a chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon National Honorary Mathematics Society. Its purpose is to promote scholarly activity in mathematic s among students in academic institutions. A student may become a member of Pi Mu Epsilon after completing two years of college mathematics (including calculus) if he /she has at least a "B" average overall and at least a "B" in mathematics courses.
NCCTM Student Chapter
The Department has a student chapter of the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM). The organization is concerned with current developments and research as it relates to the teaching of mathematics. All mathematics education majors are encouraged to become members of this organization.
The department organizes three major activities each year: State High School Geometry and Algebra II Contests and Mathematics Awareness Day in the Spring, and Sonya Kovalevskaya High School Math Day in the Fall. The following is a partial list of the past programs for those activities.
