Research Description:

Carlos specializes in developing sensors through the coordination of lanthanides to porphyrin complexes for the detection of acetonitrile and benzene. This research is imperative due to the health implications caused by these volatile organic compounds. Theoretical concepts in luminescence, structural correlations and energy transfer properties are being investigated; characterization techniques such as X-ray crystallography, luminescence spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and quantum yield measurements are thoroughly used.
